Coaching and Development

No ordinary coaching experience

Eventy, arty, creative media types: This one's for you!

When you need a coach or a consultant, it can be hard to find the one who gets what you do. That is why we started Seratoner.

We specialise in supporting individuals and organisations in the events and hospitality, arts, media, and creative sectors.

Our purpose in life is to help other people thrive, and we always place this at the centre of our work. Success and high standards matter, but we value trust, honesty, and kindness above all things. These simple human values are key in our relationships with others, but they also make or break the relationship we have with ourselves.

Not an eventy,

arty, creative media type?

That’s ok, we can help you and your organisation too.

What you will get from your coach is a friendly, kind and encouraging person who enjoys helping other people work things out and do their best.

Don’t be afraid of all the creative stuff if that’s not your world. You are welcome to make use of the way a creative brain works to get a fresh perspective on what is happening in your own.

"I am a trained coach with a background in senior leadership who managed to escape the endless rounds of business-lingo-bingo. No ‘leveraging’, ‘going forward’, or other such meaningless nonsense here.

My great grandmother used to say, ‘everyone has a talent whether that’s blowing a trumpet or laying the perfect table’ and I totally agree.

If your talent is for spreadsheets, fitting cookers or mending cars that’s all good. If we are honest, we all love a good spreadsheet. I will be interested and curious to know more about you and how I can help whatever your background." Paul J. Abbott, Founder of Seratoner

Good chat, but who are you?

My name is Paul J. Abbott. Before I launched my own company, I enjoyed a fantastic career centred around events management and artistic direction in the creative sector and higher education. I managed a mixed-use venue for around ten years and I have experience of commercial conferencing, associations, live music, and festivals. I was also responsible for employability and enterprise in a UK conservatoire, helping young artists to build their confidence and plan for the future. I hold a PhD in music, and I continue to compose and perform. My first book goes on sale in autumn 2023, and I also enjoy painting and food.

My events career took me right up to senior leadership with responsibility for large numbers of staff seven figure budgets, and everything which goes with that territory. I have trained and coached my own teams to achieve great things with former colleagues going on to do great things. I have dealt with the complexities of policy and procedure, HR issues, governance, contract management, and a whole load more. I have also been a non-executive director on a number of boards, including time as Vice-Chair for a charitable arts organisation.

"You don't have to be about  goals and targets. Dreams, imagination, creativity and ambition are all just fine..."

I can help you work out what you need to do to hit targets and achieve goals, but if that all feels a bit too corporate for you, we can talk about dreams and ambitions, and help you cook up a plan to bring your imagination to life. Whether you are chasing a dazzling vision or you just want to make the simple things work better, I would love to help.

What sort of coaching

are you looking for?

You may be searching for a personal coach, business coach, career coach, life coach or executive coach, but in reality it doesn't matter when we get into the process. Coaching skills are used to help you find direction and clarity, by breaking down problems into their constituent parts, and asking you to think about things from different angles.  Find out more on the coaching page.
